Delta Institute - Position Available - Associate
The Delta Institute is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Associate position to support green development related projects. These projects include green building and LEED consulting, sustainable urban planning, sustainable business development, green affordable housing, energy efficiency and policy dialogue facilitation. The Delta Institute is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that engages in the policy and practice of improving environmental quality and promoting community and economic development, primarily in the Great Lakes region. The position responsibilities will include:
• Providing support on LEED EB (Exiting Building) projects with green product and technology research, building data collection and quantification and documentation submittal.
• Reviewing and evaluating product data contained in industry reports, material safety data sheets, and vendor specifications for green building projects.
• Marketing and outreach to business community for green building related programs.
• Assisting in the management and implementation of an affordable housing energy efficiency program.
• Working with a team to develop a regional sustainable business initiative.
• Developing and administering green development related training programs.
• Assisting in the facilitation of policy dialogues related to green building, environmental quality and brownfields.
• Identifying and developing new projects; work with Delta Institute staff to raise funds and obtain other resources for project implementation.
The successful candidate will have a degree in the field of environmental science, architecture, planning, engineering, natural resource management, or a related field and at least 3 years of work experience. Masters degree preferred, but not required. The candidate should be detail oriented, possess good organizational skills, be a self starter, motivated and enjoy working in a team environment. The candidate should also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of LEED or LEED accreditation a plus. Position to begin on or about September 1, 2007. Salary commensurate with experience.
